Krooked Tongue indie-rock anthem ‘Dog Days’ reminisces on young love

Capturing the intoxicating rush of first love and the bittersweet taste of looking back, Bristol trio Krooked Tongue release their nostalgia-soaked single ‘Dog Days’. Packed with youthful emotion and driven by the band’s expert songwriting, this alt-rock anthem reflects on how those early relationships, particularly in our formative years, shape who we become and stay lodged in our own personal lore. This song’s narrative depicts a vivid, relatable vignette of teenage love, where even the most fleeting of interactions feels epic and life-changing.

Like many notable bangers, ‘Dog Days’ began life as an acoustic outline, one that gradually evolved into this masterpiece of rich bass, electric riffs, and thumping percussion, with skilled production from long-time collaborator Josh Gallop. The interplay between Oli Rainsford’s smooth, yearning vocals and Dan Smith’s textured guitar lines adds a lush, shimmering layer, while Harry Pritchard’s drumming anchors the song’s ebb-and-flow nature.

Like all good things, like the innocence of youth, like the transient connections we make along the way, this song too must come to an end. Yet even as ‘Dog Days’ draws to its inevitable close, we can’t help but want to linger in the romantic yet melancholic world that Krooked Tongue has carefully crafted for us.

If ‘Dog Days’ has also struck a chord with you, then be sure to keep an eye out for the band’s debut album, due to break through in 2026.
