Introducing The Harbours, the four-piece outfit fronted by Ollie Drakard and Will Massarella-Tyler, who have just released their debut EP, Are We Nearly There Yet?. Hailing from Leicester, this dynamic project has delivered five tracks of indie-pop bliss perfect for the last few weeks of summer.
In opening single ‘What Are We Running For?’ the band channels the jangly precision of Two Door Cinema Club and the breezy hooks of The Kooks, blending layered guitars with driving rhythms and just enough bittersweet edge to keep it grounded. Listeners are then led through three breezy, feel-good numbers, the melodic ‘Carry Me Home’, nostalgic ‘Memory’ and daring ‘Have You Ever’.
The closing track, and our personal favourite, ‘Scarlet (Boys That Sing)’ leans more anthemic. Reminiscent of The Wombats or Little Comets, this final song is packed with snaking guitar lines and euphoric choruses built for both sweaty club gigs and muddy festival fields. These heartfelt singles might be derived from the musicians’ personal experiences, they still leave space with their relatable themes for listeners to connect their own memories and meanings.
What makes The Habours such a special band is their chemistry, one that’s rooted in genuine friendship. This ensures that the EP feels warm, unforced, and full of shared joy. Balancing polished production, tight songwriting and sincere lyrics, this is such a bold debut that’s bound to connect with fans across all corners of the UK. Nostalgic yet fresh, Are We Nearly There Yet? EP lands The Harbours on our radar as your next favourite indie discovery.
