Frank Joshua returns with the beautifully mysterious single ‘Glass’

It’s been a couple of years since we last reviewed a track from the mysterious Frank Joshua, who shot onto our radar with the provocatively atmospheric ‘Millionaire’. Now, he’s returned with ‘Glass’, through which it’s clear that this London-based creative has continued to push the boundaries of his reflective, immersive and deeply affecting soundscapes. This new track is a kaleidoscopic blend of hazy dream-pop, melodic indie-rock and cinematic production that swirls around Joshua‘s distinctly poetic songwriting.

Through the metaphorical imagery of “unbreakable glass”, Joshua explores the seemingly opposing states of strength and fragility. As the song unfolds, this songwriter gradually unveils the uneasy realisation that the armour we put on to protect ourselves isn’t a strength, but it’s in fact a weakness. His glacial vocals keep everything calm and so this message is evidently all about hope, self-awareness and growth.

As well as his emotionally mature perspective, another hallmark of Joshua‘s creativity is the intriguing visuals. The video mirrors a shadow-puppet show as it flicks through scenes of human figures maneuvering around and interacting with strange crystalline shapes. With the black-and-white colour palette and slow pace, Joshua doesn’t opt for flashy visuals, but instead he makes space for his audience to craft their own impressions.

‘Glass’ is another stunning release and we’re happy to be back in Frank Joshua‘s sonic universe.
