We’ve been a fan of Matilda Eyre for ages now. We had the great joy to premiere her video for ‘FYA’ back in September 2017 and earlier this year we announce this musician’s return with ‘Water’, a collaboration with producer PALMR. In the same way that this London-based German artist has allowed her career to organically flourish over the years, so too does her new single gently burn.
‘Let Me Be’ is a mighty indie-pop ballad built around Eyre’s signature piano melodies, atmospheric guitars and electronic percussion. As ever, her vocals are stunning. She allows vulnerability and genuine emotion to flow through her words.
Sharing more insight into the meaning behind the highly passionate ‘Let Me Be’, Matilda Eyre shares:
“‘Let Me Be’ is a song about the excruciating wish to be your authentic self, to be loved the way you are, to be seen for your true self. ‘Let me be all the things washed away.’ The song is reflecting on all the ways we change ourselves to fit in and to be accepted. Remembering your strength, your essence and returning home to that. It is a call to step into your truth and authenticity when people or situations ask you to abandon yourself.”
