Montreal based, half French, half Japanese artist and Universal Music Canada signee Soran has shared his interstellar EP ‘Space Boy’. Oozing with cosmic synths, pristine production and Sorans gorgeously smooth, buttery soft vocals and talented songwriting, ‘Space Boy’ is one for the books.
Aptly named by his late mother, after the 1960’s Japanese anime comic series, Space Boy Soran. Soran is following in the footsteps of the beloved character, reaching for the stars, with his super power being first and foremost music. Even the way Soran‘s name is spelt in Japanese translates to ‘Universe’ and there are so many beautiful hints, ties and links to Sorans upbringing and the connection he shares with his mother throughout, honouring her memory at every opportunity.
Documenting a chapter of Sorans life that has been filled with endless ups and downs, ‘Space Boy’ represents the beginning of something extraordinary, a coming of age story like no other where the cosmos is truly the limit.
In his own words, Soran describes,
“Space Boy tells my story in parallel with the Japanese anime “Space Boy Soran” from which my mother was inspired to choose my first name. Each song tells an experience that I lived the past 3-4 years and you can hear at the same time the evolution of my sounds shape. This EP is the introduction to a world where I, Space Boy, am about to dive to become the Soran invested with a mission: to reinvent the perspective of what is ‘Pop’.”
